Topo – Natural movement

Since 2013, Topo has been looking to assist people to run, walk and hike. With a mix of traditional running shoe design and a helping of natural running, Topo have designed a range of shoes to help everyone from first timers to pro runners hit the highs. Their range spans uptempo race shoes, to easy days on the trails. Here we will take a look at some of the Topo 2024 offerings.

Topo 2024 Pursuit 2

The follow up to Topo’s first 0 drop trail shoe. For grip, durability and cushion, the Pursuit is designed to help you through your trail explorations. Vibram Megagrip provides surefooted hold while ZipFoam midsoles allow you to keep going all day.

4.5mm lugs on Vibram MegaGrip.

Release date: May/June 2024

Changes:

5 dollars less than the previous version which is always a bonus. A slight 8g/0.3oz weight loss from the previous version.

Topo Specter 2

The second version of the high stack, big cushion high-performance road trainer. The v1 had a Pebax core wrapped in an EVA outer for stability.

Full Pebax midsole.

Thicker outsole rubber for durability

37mm in the heel and 32 in the forefoot for a 5mm drop.

Release date of August 2024 (US)

Changes:

A slight weight gain from the v1 which could be explained by the thicker outsole and the extra 2mm of stack in the heel. The move from a combination midsole to a full Pebax affair. $5 price rise. 

Topo Ultrafly 5

Not Nike’s trail super shoe but the daily road trainer from Topo. A light guidance system offers stability while the ZipFoam midsole delivers durability and responsiveness.

Specs:

Stack height of 35mm in the heel and 30mm in the forefoot for a 5mm drop.

Weight: 9.6oz/272g

$140 release price.

Release date: May 2024 (US)

Changes:

It looks like a large gain in stack height if the notes are accurate. From 28mm last year to 35mm this year but with no weight gain. However, there is a $5 price rise.
