norda 055 Introduction
The Canadian mountain masters and purveyors of premium produce are back at TRE with the 055. With the release of the 005 blowing people away with the quality of both materials and ride, all eyes are on the Great White North to see what’s next.
Nick from Norda met with Alex and let the cat out of the bag with the details of the new kid on the block. If you liked the norda 005, you will probably love the 055. It offers the same quality materials. A Dyneema upper, Arnitel TPEE foam and Vibram Mega Grip Elite rubber but all in greater quantities! A max stack version of the 005 which is described as the rowdy step-brother. Could this be the GOAT?
What can we expect from the norda 055?
How does that look as a shoe? Well, we have 38mm of Arnitel TPEE foam at the heel and a 7mm drop. This gives 79% rebound and remains plateless to ensure you are connected to the trails at all times. Furthemore, to keep the connection to the trail, the 055 is shod with Vibram Mega Grip Elite. The company’s top of the line rubber will keep things solid on the run. As a throwback to the past, it is the same lug depth and configuration as the 001. 5mm lugs and the same carbide steel spike placement as before. However, this time, the superfluous rubber has been trimmed to allow for even more weight saving.
The upper is reminiscent of the 005. 100% bio based Dyneema upper with an even wider weave to allow more breathability and a better escape for water when the trails get soggy. New in the 055 is the custom knit collar. Not only does it add to the lockdown to ensure a fully dialled in fit, but it keeps the trail debris on the outside, where it should be. The attention to detail is a key feature of norda shoes. This is shown here by the new Arnitel TPEE insole to make the 055 even more comfortable than ever before. norda continue to push for the best materials when making the best shoe possible.
