Nike Vomero 18 Preview
Alongside the Pegasus, the Vomero line represents Nike’s daily workhorse shoe. Whilst not as storied as it’s Workhorse With Wings sibling, the Vomero has always been a comfortable, capable cruiser for those daily miles. With the Vomero 18, Nike has made some massive changes. Firstly, and most obviously, the midsole is massive! An extra 6mm of foam in the heel takes it to a sky scraping (perhaps ankle breaking) 46mm.
Furthermore, Nike has changed the forefoot puck of ZoomX to a full length slab. To aid durability, the designers added ReactX to the forefoot and heel. This dual foam should give the familiar ZoomX bounce while the ReactX will stabilise and support the foam. This should keep the dependability in the Vomero 18 while adding some more excitement to the ride.
Along with the update to the shoe itself, the Vomero 18 marks a change to Nike’s product line. Along with the base model of the shoe which is here, we will also see a Vomero Plus and a Vomero Premium. But, for these, you will have to wait until later to find out more. This line change will be mirrored with both the Pegasus and Structure families.
Hopefully, these changes should bring a classic comfort cruiser up to date. An all new midsole geometry, foam mix and a lot more ZoomX are sure to give the shoe a different feel. Perhaps those who crave tradition will be unimpressed about the move towards the max stack arena. Maybe it will bring in a new world of runners who are looking for comfort with a lick of excitement. To find out more, keep your eyes on Meta-Endurance.com over the coming weeks to find out our tester’s impressions. The shoe releases to the public in February 2025 so you can form your own opinions then.
