KIPRUN have just announced their next race-day supershoe which will hit the market in 2026 – the KIPRUN KIPSTORM ELITE. Following on from their success in the last year with the KIPRUN KD900X LD+ (thank you KIPRUN for simplifying your names) the KIPSTORM ELITE has a lot to live up to. Developed through extensive athlete testing and biomechanical analysis the KIPSTORM ELITE sounds like it might just be the next hot shoe from KIPRUN featuring “elite-level efficiency paired with the comfort and durability demanded by marathon runners worldwide”. If the shoe is anything close to how KIPRUN have described it – there may be another great supershoe to lace up for the next marathon season in 2026.
What’s new in the KIPSTORM ELITE?
The midsole of the KIPRUN KIPSTORM ELITE combines advanced materials, geometry, and athlete insights to give a +13% improvement in dynamism compared to the KD900X LD+. These improvements in the midsole come primarily from a dual-density midsole which combines an A-TPU cupsole for structure which encapsulates a PEBA insert above the carbon plate to maximise both cushioning and propulsion. The lower A-TPU layer (0.11g/cm³ density) provides stability and deformation control, while the PEBA foam (0.1g/cm³ density) delivers the necessary energy return for the optimum final toe-off phase. Sandwiched between the A-TPU foam and the PEBA foam, a redesigned carbon plate integrates lateral stiffeners and a sculpted appendix to reduce metatarsal flexion to improve running economy.
The upper of the KIPRUN KIPSTORM ELITE is built from a single snug-fit 3D knit upper structure to bring mesh, collar, and tongue into one seamless unit to limit potential hotspots and improve comfort in the marathon racer. The fixed tongue and butterfly-textured laces (thank you KIPRUN) ensure a uniform pressure and secure lockdown.

Achieving a weight of 216g – the KIPRUN KIPSTORM ELITE is not particularly lightweight when compared to other race day shoes, however the supportive midsole comes packed with features to help ensure that you can make it through your next marathon as fast as possible.
