KIPRUN KIPRIDE MAX Introduction
KIPRUN is back at it again with an all new max-cushioned shoe in the form of the KIPRUN KIPRIDE MAX. This sees a complete overhaul from the previous version – the KIPRUN KS900.2. The KIPRIDE MAX is the beginning of a fresh chapter for KIPRUN in the daily trainer category. A place where their comfort-first design and elite-level cushioning is combine. Together they produce a shoe which could easily be confused with many of the max-cushioned shoes coming from the more established household name brands. It is in direct competition with the likes of ASICS, Nike, and Brooks max cushioned marvels.
What’s new in the KIPRIDE MAX?
The midsole of the KIPRUN KIPRIDE MAX is made up of a new midsole foam from KIPRUN. With some justification, they named it SOFTECH+. This is a blend of EVA, PEBA, and OBC. Moreover, with 42mm of plush goodness in the heel and a 6mm drop – the KIPRIDE MAX is said to deliver a “buttery-smooth” ride. A statement which seems to be backed-up in the lab with tests. These reveal that the shoe has a 69% energy return, and is 21% softer than the previous KIPRUN KS900.2.
The upper sees vast improvements compared to previous models provided by KIPRUN. This time we have an engineered warp-knit upper as well as a 3-D knit tongue. These combine to give the shoe an extremely comfortable fit and great lockdown. The upper reminds me of soft, plush and comfortable uppers similar to those seen in some of the more recent ASICS Nimbus models. I know we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but I can’t help but like what I’m looking at!
KIPRIDE MAX Conclusion
The KIPRUN KIPRIDE MAX weighs 271g/9.6oz for a US M9 putting it right in the sweet spot for daily trainers. It is heavier than the more minimal daily trainers out there like the PUMA Velocity Nitro 4 which comes in at 245g. However, compared to other max cushioned shoes on the market such as the ASICS Nimbus 27 (305g) and the Nike Vomero Plus (273g) it puts it into perspective just how far KIPRUN have come. Now they are able to pack so much cushioning and comfort into such a lightweight package.
