HOKA Cielo X1 2.0 Preview
HOKA’s Cielo X 1 is back with a raft of changes to make it faster and more race focussed. The previous iteration pleased runners with its ride and feel but some felt that the fit was a let down. At TRE, HOKA have unleashed their new version. A shoe with a long name that is built for the long run. The pinnacle of HOKA’s road racing line, the Cielo X 1 2.0 is for fast marathons.
A full peba midsole sandwiches a carbon plate to propel you over 42.2 km to glory. This time out, the rocker is moved towards the heel to make smoother transitions through the gait cycle. The new geometry and cutouts are designed to add stability along with the rapid heep to toe transition.
The given stack height may be 48mm. However, when this is scaled down to the shoe size World Athletics measure, it falls below the regulations. It may very well appear on some podiums in the coming year. Those with larger shoes are also literally getting more shoe for their money. Bonus!
Coming in at 228g, it isn’t one of the lightest shoes out there but it is within a reasonable range. Perhaps the rocker will make it run lighter than the story the scales say. We will be able to find out in February when the Cielo X 1 2.0 releases to the public at a price of $275, if that isn’t too rich for your blood.
With such a rush of new shoes coming out, be sure to keep your eyes on the Meta Endurance channels to help you make the best choices. You will be able to find the details of all HOKA’s new releases, latest reviews and news. Keep checking for more TRE content as it comes in.
