Brooks Hyperion Max Preview
A max cushioned trainer seems to be a must for all brands nowadays and Brooks is no exception. The Hyperion Max 2 was a super comfortable trainer which was excellent for the long run. Whilst it may have lacked a little versatility when it came to paces, it was a shoe which could take the impact out of marathon training miles. This year, Brooks brings the Hyperion Max 3. What changes can we expect with this max cushioned monster?
Probably the most pleasing update to many will be the move to DNA Gold as part of a dual layer compound midsole system. The peba based layer will sit on top of the DNA Flash v2 material from last year’s model. This should provide some extra energy return to go along with the dampening properties of before. The pebax Speedvault plate remains sandwiched in the midsole foam, however, the geometry has changed to make the ride smoother.
Despite the stack height increase, Brooks have saved weight by making cutouts to the midsole. A 45mm heel follows the current trend of super chunky shoes and the 8mm drop works with the plate to get the legs rolling. Hopefully, the addition of the DNA Gold will make it more versatile with the uptempo and longer miles in mind. If you are planning a marathon, this could be a key shoe in your rotation. Mixing Brooks’ traditional and comfortable fit with a modern superfoam should make for a fantastic shoe. We can’t wait to get it on foot and see how it performs in the real world.
Available in July 2025 at a price point of €190 it seems to sit firmly in line with its competitors in the super trainer line. Keep your eyes on Meta Endurance’s channels for all the latest news and reviews on the Hyperion Max 3 and all the other goodies from TRE!
