Brooks Hyperion Elite 5 Preview
The Hyperion Elite 5 is the latest iteration of Brooks’ top of the line racer. The 4 had a wonderful upper which nearly everyone enjoyed. However, the midsole lacked some of the lustre of its competitors and left it feeling a little flat. The 5 comes with their DNA Gold full Peba midsole. This should offer a much improved feeling for everyone who straps it on to beat their best.
Aside from the change in foam, the aesthetic of the midsole has also had a major makeover. The DNA Gold midsole has gained a new geometry and even some bubbles! The cutouts make the shoe lighter and the bubbles ensure that the space doesn’t just collapse. Faster feeling and lighter on foot than the previous Brooks racing shoes, the Hyperion Elite 5 is the culmination of a much wider testing base than any before, A wide range of runners of all ilks have had their input and helped to design Brooks’ best racer yet.
A 40mm heel keeps it within the World Athletics road shoe regulation height while an 8mm drop helps runners through their gait cycle into an explosive toe off. The lightness on foot is not just a feeling, the sample size comes in at just 198g making it very comparable to its competitors. Available in July 2025 for €275, the new Elite could mark Brooks ascension to the top tier of road racing shoes.
All in all, this sounds like a very exciting update and we can’t wait to get it on foot and see how it performs in the real world! Be sure to keep your eyes on our Meta Endurance channels to see the reviews and news on the Hyperion Elite 5 and all the other goodies which come out of TRE.
