adidas Supernova Rise 2 Preview
After a few fallow years in the daily trainer market, adidas unleashed a revamped Supernova line. The vanguard of that was the Supernova Rise. A simple, comfortable daily trainer which offered cushion and some versatility. A good value and easy to run shoe was born. How much does the v2 change about the original package?
Not much! The midsole set up is identical to the original version. The Dreamstrike foam, a peba infused recipe, stays the same with an identical 36mm in the heel and 10mm drop. It gave a smooth and fairly versatile ride in the first iteration. Logical says that if there is no change to the design, the ride should stay the same. This comes as good news to people who are looking for a fuss free daily trainer to build miles in.
The main changes to the Supernova Rise 2 come in the upper. adidas have gone with a less is more approach. adidas have listened to people who said that the upper might have been a little too foam filled. The tongue was particularly duvet like in the original version. The remedy? Remove the padding. Around the heel collar and tongue, the foam has been stripped back with the mesh giving the softness needed to protect against lace bite. Thankfully, this has also reduced the weight by around 4% to about 270g.
Available in December 2024, the Supernova Rise 2 is looking like a good, traditional feeling shoe for daily miles which will suit those who want simplicity and value for money.
