2025 Favourite Easy Day Shoe Introduction
It is that time of year again when we round up our favourites of the year. The miles have been run, the fun has been had and the decisions have been made. Here, our team rounds up their 2025 easy day shoe favourites. For these articles, the testers are given free reign to decide on the shoe they want to celebrate. They have had the opportunity to run a lot of miles in a selection of shoes. You have probably read the reviews, now it is time to say which is the cream that rose to the top.

Thys’ 2025 Favourite Easy Day Shoe – Nike Vomero Plus
Nothing screams easy as much as a max cushioned, soft ride, which is exactly what the Nike Vomero Plus delivers. The shoe feels like marshmallows that absorb all the impact on my tired legs, perfect for easy miles. After over 1000km in my New Balance More V5, the Vomero Plus slotted perfectly as a replacement with the same dense, soft, bouncy comfort feeling under foot.
The Vomero Plus is that shoe that you know exactly where it is in your shoe rack, as it is the one that you reach for on a daily basis to clock your miles. Long run? Vomero Plus. Easy run? Vomero plus. Steady?! Vomero Plus. I am guilty of using these even for longer tempo’s as I enjoy the ride and sensation so much that I don’t mind the sacrifice in pace or weight. That said, I stand firm on these being the best shoes for easy miles, longruns, short runs, everything where your body just wants a bit of a break. It is no coincidence that my weekly mileage has skyrocketed the moment I introduced these into my lineup.
Ivan’s 2025 Favourite Easy Day Shoe – Diadora Blueshield Mythos Volo 5
Diadora Blueshield Mythos Volo 5 – a long name for a fairly simple-feeling shoe. It might not be the most exciting option on the market, but it excels at what it does. For my easy or recovery runs, preventing overuse injuries after hard workouts is what matters most. These days, many thick, bouncy shoes may feel more fun and motivating, but they just rarely suit my light, high-cadence running style. This is where the Mythos Volo 5 truly shines. It remains fairly light, yet offers plenty of cushioning and mild stability when needed. The simple design and excellent fit are also noteworthy. Overall, it’s a reliable workhorse – never thrilling, but never boring either. It’s light, supportive, and cushioned enough, with a subtle smoothness that makes every run feel reassuring, even on fatigued days.
Josh’s 2025 Favourite Easy Day Shoe – Nike Vomero Plus
My best Easy Day Shoe of the year in 2025 is the Nike Vomero Plus. I’ve logged a few hundred kilometres in these shoes in 2025 and they still haven’t lost their pop and their fun. For the last few years Nike has struggled to release a daily trainer which I have found particularly exciting or would have chosen above other daily trainers – but with the Vomero Plus they struck gold.
For me, the shoe’s balance between being a max-cushioned mileage shoe and a fun and poppy ride comes down to the midsole. Being composed entirely of ZoomX it has a running sensation which I look for in my easy day shoes. This means they don’t feel like they can only go at one certain pace, but feel just as comfortable running 6:00/km as they do running 3:30/km. The upper offers a roomy, yet secure fit and has just enough cushioning to offer the much needed comfort, but remains breathable and lightweight. I would recommend the Vomero Plus to anyone looking for a shoe which can be used for anything from recovery long runs to uptempo sessions. For me, these are paces ranging from 6:00/km to 3:30/km.
Maisie’s 2025 Favourite Easy Day Shoe – Brooks Ghost Max 3
My favourite Easy Day Shoe of 2025 is the Brooks Ghost Max 3. Being honest, it is also a close contender for Biggest Surprise Shoe of Year as it really exceeded my expectations. So much so that it ended up being my shoe of choice for a 100k mixed terrain event! Rogue choice, I know, but I looked at every shoe in my rotation at the time and there wasn’t anything else I wanted to reach for.
The cushioning is spot on without feeling too ‘squishy’, something I really value from an easy shoe. The fit and comfort really stood out for me, it hugs your feet whilst still offering a wide enough fit and spacious toebox. I am not sure how Brooks managed to get the fit so perfect (for me at least), but bravo and thank you. So many of the easy/daily shoes I tested this year had extremely narrow fits and tight toeboxes, causing some serious big toe issues! It is really refreshing to lace up the Ghost Max 3 and feel some space for my toes. No rubbing or pinching – just pure comfort and joy!
In terms of the ride, I have to admit that it isn’t a particularly exciting shoe. But it doesn’t need to be. It is stable, comfortable and a true workhorse that got me through both ultra training and the 100k itself; with zero blisters I may add!
Andy’s 2025 Favourite Easy Day Shoe – New Balance More v6
For me, the shoe that took the crown in the easy day category is the New Balance More v6. Yes, it is a bit of a one trick pony, but it does that trick very well. It cushions the blows of the road and helps you roll through those miles when pace is not a forethought. Plushness comes in abundance and that serves it well on days when the legs and feet need babying after long miles or hard work. While it is not an exciting shoe, it doesn’t need to be.
The More v6 lives up to its name with more softness in every aspect of the shoe. From the huge midsole to the padded upper, it offers more comfort from every angle. Beyond the easy miles, it has also become my daily wear shoe when not running. Long days on feet at work and weekends of toddler walks, it keeps me comfortable and happy through them all.
While the More v6 won’t knock your socks off in terms of excitement, it will give you that gentle comforting hug that everyone needs to keep them balanced and happy. Good job, New Balance.
