No new World Record for Ejgayehu Taye and DNS for Jakob Ingebrigsten at the 2022 Cursa del Nassos 5k
2022 Cursa del Nassos 5k – Results and race summary
After a tense start, the men’s lead pack of 8 runners took off and quickly separated from the chase pack in which the women’s leaders found their pace. Jakob Ingebrigtsen was sick and did not start the race.
The lead pack clocked 5’22 at the 2km mark, quite far behind the WR pace. After the same distance in the women’s race, Taye dropped Konstanze Klosterhalfen.
Ilias Fifa attaqued the lead group after the 4km mark (in 10:51) and dropped most of it staying only with Adisu Girma and Jonas Raess. However it’s Adisu Girma who surged with 500m to go and won in 13:25. Ilias Fifa is 2nd and OAC athlete from Switzerland Jonas Raess finished 3rd in 13:31.
In the women’s race, Taye missed her WR (set in Barcelona last year) by 2 seconds with a 14:21. Konstanze finished in 2nd in 14:52. Karoline Grøvdal finished 3rd in 15:06.
