HOKA Mach 7 Introduction
HOKA’s Mach series really came to life with the Mach 4. It rapidly became a fan favourite for those looking to push the pace while keeping it un-plated. A versatile shoe which was just as comfortable at low paces as those racier efforts, it was the 2021 must have shoe. Since then, the Mach 5 underwhelmed a little but the franchise blasted back with the Mach 6. What does the Mach 7 bring to the party to keep the fun alive?
What’s new in the Mach 7?
If we’re honest, not very much! It looks like HOKA have decided that the Mach 6 was such a good shoe, they didn’t want to tamper with it so much. Instead, we find a more minor aesthetic overhaul of the shoe. A refined upper helps to make the Mach 7 even sleeker than the previous versions and more comfortable too.
This is excellent news for those who enjoyed the 6, you’ll be able to pick up a box fresh pair soon. We keep the same midsole foam compound of super-critical EVA and add a new sticky rubber to the forefoot for extra grip. Always handy to turn your effort into pace on the roads. Sometimes it is refreshing to have a favourite shoe come round again without too many tweaks. So many shoes have been “improved” to obsolescence to the disappointment of runners everywhere.
Conclusion
While there may not be much new about the Mach 7, the old favourites remain. A dependable daily to speed-day shoe which has a light weight and a relatively low price of $145. When daily trainer prices are rising closer to $170, this doesn’t feel as bad.
